Selling The Greatness Of Chemistry

Big News & The Lesson » Today a gun-totin' redneck Texan took to a school football field to avenge his son's mild mistreatment by firing an AK-47 into the heart of the coach. No, I wish I was kidding. To all prep coaches, watch out for crazy parents. It's so not worth it.
Now today's story...
The week before spring break in my production class, Dr. Flanagan divided us up into groups for the big final project. The idea is we are given a client who needs some sort of video produced for whatever reason and we come up with all the creative nonsense. Oddly, I was one of three people in the class chosen as a group leader. Evidently my "web skills" set me apart from the rest. I got a pretty good group, made up of Mike, Brandi, Ramon and Kelly.
So then comes the client assignments. Flanagan chose three people who responded with interest in the video. And why, you know, in the world she accepted the chemistry department is beyond me. Unless, of course, the goal was to make things difficult for somebody. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but... Well, yes I'm complaining. But seriously, I'm a television production major having to sell people on the greatness of chemistry. I know. But that's my job, so I'm going to do it.
Okay, it's my job and also it's possible that we maybe might be able to not have to take the final if our client likes our treatment package. Oh please, everyone has ulterior motives.
Today we all turned in our individual scripts for the three-minute video on why future chemistry graduate students should come to USF to do their studies. Well, we didn't because we ran out of time. But we will on Tuesday.
Anyhow, tomorrow I have to go tour the brand new chemistry labs and take some pictures for the storyboards that are to come when we present our treatment. I suppose that was the point of my saying all of that. But really, it was more about I have to sell chemistry. Lucky me.
Notes: I finished designing the program for the 2005 Senior Classic. It's the final high school hockey game for the seniors at the Ice Sports Forum before they graduate. It looks good. And I might have a picture of the cover up here at some point. ... Today I turned in my applications for both Florida Focus and Dr. Bajkiewicz's Multimedia Journalism class. I expect to get into neither of them, but just having applied is good enough for me.

so posting that took you long enough. I thought you were gonna have a mental breakdown if it didn't happen. I'm glad you succeeded. If you didn't, I think I might've needed to pop a tranquilizer in your ass because you were gettin pretty aggressive on the phone earlier.
Ohhhhh, Chris. You slay me. And not in the wooden stake to the vampire heart kind of way.
